# Registrar Domains: the full reference for assistants > A domain registrar for people and their AI agents. Search on the website, or use the same tools as an MCP server and a REST API. Sold by AlphaOscar (France); domains are registered through Openprovider (Hosting Concepts B.V.), an ICANN-accredited registrar. Generated 2026-10-27. Short version: https://registrar-domains.com/llms.txt. Prices in this file are live, the same as GET /api/price. ## Where things are - [MCP server docs](https://registrar-domains.com/docs/mcp): how to connect Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor and other clients, every tool and its arguments - MCP endpoint: https://registrar-domains.com/mcp (Streamable HTTP, stateless; open tools without anything, account tools with Authorization: Bearer ) - MCP endpoint with sign-in: https://registrar-domains.com/mcp/oauth (OAuth 2.1, for Claude.ai and ChatGPT connectors and Claude Code; scopes domains:read, domains:write and domains:transfer, listed at https://registrar-domains.com/docs/mcp#scopes) - [OpenAPI](https://registrar-domains.com/openapi.json): the REST mirror of the tools - [Domain extensions](https://registrar-domains.com/tld): one page per extension with price, rules and FAQ - [Price comparison](https://registrar-domains.com/compare) and its data at https://registrar-domains.com/compare.json - [Terms of sale](https://registrar-domains.com/terms), [Privacy notice](https://registrar-domains.com/privacy) - Contact: support@alphaoscar.fr (orders, renewals, domains), abuse@alphaoscar.fr (abuse reports), privacy@alphaoscar.fr (personal data) ## How to buy 1. Search: suggest_domains or check_domain (MCP), GET /api/suggest or /api/check (REST), or the search box on the home page. Availability is available, taken or unknown; unknown is never available. A name we already sold, or one being registered after payment, is taken (source apex). 2. Price: get_price or GET /api/price?tld=. Both prices are shown before payment: the first year (price) and each renewal year (renewPrice), in US dollars before VAT. 3. Order: register_domain with the domain, the years and the registrant (an account is needed: an API key or the OAuth connection). The answer is an order with checkoutUrl. A person without a key buys on the website: Add to basket, sign in, then checkout. 4. The human pays on the checkout page by card. Nothing is registered or charged before that. The domain is then usually registered within minutes; follow it with get_order. The state is one of: awaiting_payment, expired, paid, registering, registered, partly_failed, failed, refunded. The final states: registered, partly_failed, failed, refunded, expired. partly_failed: some names were registered and the others were not; each line's status, and whether its refund is done or pending, is in lines[]. When a line shows heldUntil, its registration is delayed on our side: we retry on our own, and if it cannot be done by that time, we cancel it and start a refund for it. 5. All sales are final. A domain registration cannot be cancelled or refunded once the registrar has processed it. If the registrar cannot register or renew a domain, we refund that domain's share of the payment, VAT included, with a credit note on your invoice. - Basket and shared orders: several names go in one order with set_basket, then checkout_basket. Payment clears the saved basket only when its domain names match the paid order; a basket changed after checkout stays. A retried call, or any key or connection of the account, gets the same open order for the same lines and registrant. A new order closes the older open ones for the same names. Revoking a key does not cancel the orders it opened: they stay payable until they expire. ## How to manage a domain From the dashboard (sign in with the link we email you) or with the account tools: - DNS records on our nameservers: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA and SRV (NS records are refused: use Nameservers), TTL 600 to 86400 seconds. New records usually reach our nameservers within minutes; networks that saw an old answer keep it until its TTL runs out, and a TTL change can take the old TTL plus an hour. - Nameservers: point the domain to two to thirteen other nameservers, or back to ours. A nameserver inside the domain itself is refused (no glue records yet); a host that public DNS cannot find gets a warning, never a refusal. - Transfer lock, where the registry offers one (.fr has none), and the transfer code to move the domain to another registrar. - Confirmation by email: when an agent asks for a nameserver change, an unlock, the transfer code or auto-renew on, the tool answers { status: "confirmation_sent" } (202 on REST). We email the owner a link that works once, for 30 minutes. Nothing changes until the owner confirms it, signed in to the same account. The agent never gets the transfer code: the owner sees it on the confirmation page. In the dashboard these act at once, and a nameserver change or a transfer code shown there sends the owner an email. - Under ICANN's Transfer Policy, a registrar may refuse a transfer in the 60 days after a registration or a previous transfer. (https://www.icann.org/resources/pages/transfer-policy-2016-06-01-en) - Renewal: renew_domain or the dashboard start a renewal order for N years, paid through a checkout link like a registration. - Activity log: who changed what on a domain (web, a key by its label and id, a connected app by its name and client id), newest first. - Invoices: each paid order has a numbered invoice with VAT, from Stripe. ## Renewal and expiry Renew from your dashboard, or from the link in the reminder emails we send 30 and 7 days before expiry. Automatic renewal is off by default. Turn it on per domain in the dashboard, or confirm an agent's request from the email we send you, and we charge your saved card 7 days before expiry, then renew. You can turn it off at any time. We save a card only when you add one for automatic renewal, on our payment provider Stripe's page. Stripe keeps it; we do not. We charge it only for the domains you put on automatic renewal, 7 days before expiry. We charge the default card you select with Stripe, or the last card you saved if the default is not an attached card. You can remove it at any time on Stripe's page, from "Manage payment method" in your account; removing a card or clearing the default payment method turns automatic renewal off for every domain. If a domain is not renewed, it expires. Each extension below states what happens after expiry, from the registrar's own periods. ## Pricing rule Every renewal is priced from our registrar's cost by the same margin rule, so the price you see is the price you keep paying. Our price is our registrar's cost plus 30 %, and never less than what covers the payment fees, the VAT and US$1.00 of margin. The API shows our registrar's cost (cost, renewCost) next to our price. The price shown is the price charged. The renewal price is shown before you pay and follows our registrar's cost. Not the cheapest everywhere: Cloudflare and Porkbun often renew for less. Account tools need Authorization: Bearer on /mcp or the OAuth connection on /mcp/oauth. ### check_domain Is this exact domain available? Answers available, taken, or unknown. Taken also covers a name we already sold. - domain (string, required): Full domain, for example tiny.fr ### suggest_domains Try one idea across the launch TLDs and rank by availability. - idea (string, required): A word, a short phrase, or a full domain such as quietharbor.fr - tlds (string[], optional): TLDs to try. Defaults to the launch list. ### get_price First-year and renewal price in USD before VAT for one TLD, next to our registrar's costs (cost, renewCost). Our price is our registrar's cost plus 30 %, and never less than what covers the payment fees, the VAT and US$1.00 of margin. - tld (string, required): TLD without the dot, for example fr ### register_domain Start a registration. Needs an API key or a signed-in connection. Answers an order with a payment link for the human; the domain is registered once payment clears. A retried call answers the same open order. .fr needs a registrant living or established in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland; .eu needs one in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. Other registrants are refused before payment (see /terms#eligibility). - domain (string, required) - years (integer, optional) - registrant (object, required): Legal registrant of the domain - addons (object, optional): Options for the domain, priced per year: privacy, premiumDns, spamExperts, easyDmarc. Only the ones this deployment offers are kept. ### get_order Follow an order. A line with heldUntil set waits for a registrar top-up on our side; after that time, it fails and a refund is started. - orderId (string, required): Order id returned by register_domain ### list_domains The domains of your account, soonest expiry first, with state, expiry, days left and auto-renew. Arguments: none. ### list_orders The orders of your account, newest first, from every key and connection, with the amount paid and the invoice link. - limit (integer, optional): How many orders, newest first. 1 to 200, 50 by default. ### get_domain One domain: expiry, auto-renew, nameservers, transfer lock, DNSSEC, what the registry allows, and whether it is managed here. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr ### renew_domain Start a renewal for N years. Answers an order with a payment link for the human; the domain is renewed once payment clears. A registrant whose country cannot hold the .fr or .eu name is refused with { error, field }. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - years (integer, optional): Years to add, 1 to 10. The domain must stay at most 10 years ahead of today, so a domain with years left takes fewer. 1 by default. - addons (object, optional): The options to keep with the renewal: privacy, premiumDns, spamExperts, easyDmarc. Absent: the domain keeps its current options. {}: drops them all. ### get_basket The account's basket, priced live: domains, years, options, line totals and the subtotal. Arguments: none. ### set_basket Replace the basket with lines of { domain, years, addons }. Nothing is charged. It does not cancel an open order. - lines (object[], required) ### checkout_basket One order and one payment link for the whole basket, every domain to the same registrant. A failed line is refunded alone. Payment clears the saved basket only when its domain names match the paid order; a basket changed after checkout stays. A retried call, or any key or connection of the account, gets the same open order for the same lines and registrant. A new order closes the older open ones for the same names. .fr needs a registrant living or established in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway or Switzerland; .eu needs one in the EU, Iceland, Liechtenstein or Norway. Other registrants are refused before payment (see /terms#eligibility). - lines (object[], optional) - registrant (object, required): Legal registrant of every domain in the basket ### list_dns_records The DNS records of a domain, each with a stable id, and whether our nameservers serve them. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr ### add_dns_record Add a DNS record: A, AAAA, CNAME, MX, TXT, CAA or SRV. TTL 600 to 86400 seconds. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - name (string, optional): Host name inside the domain: "" or "@" for the domain itself, "www" for www. - type ("A" | "AAAA" | "CNAME" | "MX" | "TXT" | "CAA" | "SRV" | "NS", required) - value (string, required): Value: an IP for A/AAAA, a host for CNAME/MX, text for TXT (without quotes), for example v=spf1 include:_spf.example.com ~all - ttl (integer, optional): Seconds, 600 to 86400 - prio (integer, optional): Priority, for MX and SRV only ### update_dns_record Replace one DNS record by its id. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - id (string, required): The record's id from list_dns_records, for example rec_3f2a9c0d1e4b5a67 - name (string, optional): Host name inside the domain: "" or "@" for the domain itself, "www" for www. - type ("A" | "AAAA" | "CNAME" | "MX" | "TXT" | "CAA" | "SRV" | "NS", required) - value (string, required): Value: an IP for A/AAAA, a host for CNAME/MX, text for TXT (without quotes), for example v=spf1 include:_spf.example.com ~all - ttl (integer, optional): Seconds, 600 to 86400 - prio (integer, optional): Priority, for MX and SRV only ### delete_dns_record Remove one DNS record by its id. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - id (string, required): The record's id from list_dns_records, for example rec_3f2a9c0d1e4b5a67 ### set_nameservers Ask to point the domain to other nameservers (two to thirteen), or back to ours with an empty list. Nothing changes until the owner confirms it from an email. Hosts public DNS does not find come back as warnings. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - nameservers (string[], required): Two to thirteen distinct host names, for example ["ns1.cloudflare.com", "ns2.cloudflare.com"]. An empty list puts the domain back on our nameservers. ### use_cloudflare Ask to move the domain's DNS to Cloudflare: exactly the two nameservers Cloudflare assigned. Refused while DNSSEC is on. Nothing changes until the owner confirms it from an email. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr - nameservers (string[], required): Exactly the two nameservers Cloudflare assigned to the domain, as its dashboard shows them, for example ["ada.ns.cloudflare.com", "bob.ns.cloudflare.com"]. ### get_cloudflare_status Where the move to Cloudflare stands: pending, waiting, live (visible in public DNS), failed with the reason, or replaced, and what public DNS answers now. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr ### export_zone_file The domain's DNS records as a BIND zone file, to import in Cloudflare (DNS → Records → Import and Export) before a move. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr ### turn_off_dnssec Ask to turn DNSSEC off before a move to Cloudflare. Nothing changes until the owner confirms it from an email; public DNS then drops the DS record within a day. - domain (string, required): A domain of your account, as list_domains names it, for example ada.fr ### connect_cloudflare Link the owner's Cloudflare account with an API token (Zone: Read, Zone: Edit, DNS: Edit), so the one-click move can create the zone and copy the records. The token is stored encrypted and never shown again. - token (string, required): A Cloudflare API token with Zone: Read, Zone: Edit and DNS: Edit, as Cloudflare shows it once after you create it. It is stored encrypted and never shown again. - account_id (string, optional): The Cloudflare account id, when the token sees several accounts (the refusal lists them). - remember (boolean, optional): true keeps Cloudflare linked for other domains. false (the default) deletes the stored token once the move is done (active, failed or cancelled). ### get_cloudflare_connection Whether a Cloudflare account is linked: its id and name, when, and whether the link stays after a move.
